We Need Your Support
When thinking about all that has been accomplished by the
disbursement of over three million dollars, it is important to remember
the name "Owatonna Foundation" and what that name implies -
gifts given to the community by the community. While we are
fortunate to live in a community where philanthropic community leaders
have donated generously, the broad support for most of these activities
has come from a population contributing lesser amounts but creating a
larger whole.
The largest challenge a community foundation faces is to meet the IRS
rule of having one-third of its income derived from contributions.
This means that a strong foundation such as the Owatonna Foundation
cannot solely exist on its investment returns and maintain a tax-exempt
status. It is continually dependent upon voluntary contributions.
You can make a difference by making a donation on behalf of a loved
one, a personal bequest of money or property, or a direct donation. All of these methods are fully tax-deductible and
enable us to continue to provide our community with a vital link between our past, present and future. For more
